ABOUT
OUR CLINIC
Us
Our names are Emma and Daniel Pettet, and we are both vets, with close to forty years of experience between us. CLAREMONT VETERINARY SURGERY is the realisation of a long held dream for us. While working in many different clinics all over the world, we developed many ideas about the kind practice we would like to create some day. A clinic where patients and their owners could receive excellent care and with a personal touch. We have now settled locally with our two rapidly-growing girls and a mini-menagerie of pets!
Over the years we are delighted to have welcomed Dr Kate New Tolley, Dr Scott Linnane, Dr Natalie Jones and Dr Alex Kriess to our join veterinary team, and to share our vision.
Our vision
Our goal is to provide excellent care to pets, and friendly personalised help and advice to their owners. We know what a stressful time it can be when your pet is unwell. We believe in taking the time to explain and discuss problems, and to offer various treatment options, always doing our best to convey the risks and benefits of each one. We want everyone who walks through the door at Claremont Vets to feel welcomed, and we want every pet to have the best 'Vet Experience' possible, whether they are coming for a worming tablet or staying for major surgery.
Our team
To help us achieve this, we are really excited to be joined by Kat and Emily on reception, and Cert IV certified nurses Chantelle, Mel, and Rhianna out the back, supported by the very experienced Sam and Kayla, and kennel hand Danielle all of whom have beloved pets of their own.
Community
Everyone who works at CLAREMONT VETERINARY SURGERY is proud of where we live. We believe it's good for everyone when local businesses actively engage in the local community, and that's why we sponsor and volunteer with several local community groups. We also support the Dog's Home of Tasmania and Hobart Feline Rescue with food drives, calendar sales, donation collections, and animal care.
Modern facilities
CLAREMONT VETERINARY SURGERY has been specifically designed to serve the needs of our patients, with designated consulting rooms, a well-equipped treatment room, a sterile surgery, digital xray, ultrasound, in-house diagnostics lab, an isolation ward (for the containment of infectious diseases), and pharmacy. SERVICES
CONSULTATIONS
If you have a concern about your pet's health or wellbeing, book a consultation with one of our friendly, experienced veterinarians.
VACCINATIONS
Vaccinations are an important part of your pet's routine preventative health care. Vaccination appointments are booked with a veterinarian and include a full health check so we encourage you to use these visits to bring up any incidental pet health concerns you might have.
DENTISTRY
Just as with people, dental health is very important to your pet's wellbeing. We can offer pet dental assessments, advice about keeping teeth healthy, and should it be needed, we have the facilities to perform scaling, polishing, and extractions under GA.
SURGERY
All our veterinarians are experienced soft tissue surgeons, proficient in routine general practice surgeries. We also have good relationships with local specialists on whom we call for assistance with cases requiring more complex intervention.
IN-HOUSE LAB
We have an extensive suite of Idexx lab machines in-house, allowing us to perform on-the-spot diagnostic testing on our patients, with very rapid return of results.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
Pets don't always choose convenient times to get sick, and in the absence of any government assistance like Medicare, unexpected vet bills can add to your stress. We can offer Vetpay, Afterpay, and Coogan's Finance to help you spread the cost, and make getting your pet the care they need a little easier to budget for.
IMAGING
We have in-house radiography and ultrasound facilities in order to provide our patients with convenient and rapid diagnostic options. When necessary we can call on the skills of Dr Sean Muir, a specialist ultrasonographer who makes regular visits to the surgery.
AFTER HOURS
If your pet needs emergency veterinary attention out of hours, or if they need overnight hospitalisation, we refer to the Animal Emergency Services in Derwent Park. Their number is 1300 302 912 and they have a team of competent qualified staff on the floor 24/7.
